It is actually very simple to replace pneumatic lawn mower tires—an opportunity that any DIY enthusiast looking for scotts lawn mower parts would enjoy. So, when you have a flat tire on your lawn mower the next time, don’t think of getting an expert to look at it. With just a little practice, you can be an expert at this.

The problem of finding scotts lawn mower parts is due to the small size of these wheels. The small size of the tires makes them difficult to replace and also to make the tires fit on the machines. You would need a good screwdriver and a strong vice in order to get the job done properly.

So, here is how you can go about replacing your pneumatic lawn mower tires yourself.

What you will require:-

A C-clamp or a large vice

Screwdrivers—large ones, two of them.

Step # 1

The first step is to use the vice on the wheel and the tire and to clamp them in position. Incline the wheel by a small degree so that the vice has its one jaw on the side of the rim and the other on the tire. This is a good grip. In this position, if you make the vice any tighter, the tire will simply trail off the rim. This makes your task of removing the bad tire easier. If you find the tire coming off the rim, you must make the vice looser and rotate the tire slowly. Again tighten the vice till you get this slack.

Step # 2

Continue doing this till the wheel is completely removed from the vice. Then move it over and clamp the side of the rim, from the same side that the tire was removed from. Then you have to give a push to this tire on the extreme side of the rim. Use the other jaw of the rim to do this.

A vice does this job nicely, but if you don’t have a vice, you could use a C-clamp to do it.

Step # 3

The next step is to put the tire and the wheel on the flat ground. Pry the tire from the rim using one of the large screwdrivers. Then, using the other screwdriver, pry the tire from another point on the rim as well. The second screwdriver must be distant from the first.

Step # 4

Now, remove the first screwdriver and put it in another place, but as far from the second screwdriver as you can. Work at prying the tire in a cyclic manner using these two screwdrivers. When you complete the circle, the lawn mower tire pops off the rim it is placed on. For scotts lawn mower parts, check out online sites like ebay.

The traditional lawn mowers from Scott's have been replaced by new rotary lawn mowers. These do not need to be manually operated anymore. They aren’t as bulky and hence they are simpler to use. But even though they are easier to operate, there’s the problem that their tires might undergo a lot of wear and tear quite easily. The possibility of these tires going over pebbles and other hard materials in the lawns can be destructive to these lawn mower tires. Since lawns are not all that flat as they are supposed to be, they might even develop punctures.

Lawn mower tires are different from usual car tires. The most prominent difference is in the sizes of these tires—the lawn mower tires are smaller than other vehicle tires. Also, their punctures aren’t as problematic, because you will be quite close to home and it is always easy to ride the punctured lawnmower to somewhere you can park it and take a look at the tire.

However, you need to be alert about such situations. With normal cars, you are always riding on a flat road—well, almost always—and a puncture is brought to attention very quickly. But, if a lawnmower develops a puncture, it might not be so easily discernible because lawnmowers usually move over uneven terrains. It is also possible that the grass in the lawn doesn’t allow you to see what’s happened at the tire so easily.

But, don’t be disillusioned by the small size of lawn mower tires when looking for parts. Don’t think that these tires are small and hence their punctures won’t matter much. If the wheel comes out of its nuts and leaves the lawnmower, it could be quite dangerous. Even when replacing a punctured lawn mower tire, you have to make sure to fix up the other wheels and be attentive about the punctured wheel as well because it might trail off. Having a wheel lock is a good idea, but if you don’t have it, you must fix the wheels up with stones or other heavy objects that will stay in place.

Your lawnmower will most probably have detailed information about how to replace its tires. You must consult the manual before going ahead with the replacement on your own. However, if there’s anything that you don’t understand about it, take your lawnmower to an expert without much ado. It is much better to get it done properly and to your satisfaction rather than trying to do something you aren’t sure of and invite more problems upon yourself.

When you decide to buy your lawn mower tires then you should check out ebay to get the best online tire sales. You will not regret it, and you will also be able to get some really good deals on other tires such as 19 inch tires, 4x4 tires, mudding tires, suv tires, and more! Whatever your tire needs are, ebay is there for you.

Replacing lawn mower tires is different from replacing usual car tires. There are several reasons for that. First and foremost, you don’t carry a spare lawn mower tire with you. You don’t carry the required tools either, such as a jack and the spanners. Then, there is also the point that you might not be too keen on it because a lawnmower is never needed on an urgent basis—you can always put it off.

However, if and when you decide to change your lawn mower tire, this is how you should go about it. For your lawn mower parts, you first need to get a tire. Check your local retailer or also check online.

You would need a portable air compressor. Even those manually operated ones will be enough to do the job. With the help of this device, fill in air in your tires. Then move the tractor to a flat surface. But even if you aren’t able to inflate the tires, you should take them on the flat surface for the repair job at least.

The following are the steps involved:-

Park your lawnmower on the flat surface. Put the engine off. Engage the handbrake and remove the keys from the ignition.

Completely clean the tire. Use water. This helps because it removes the dirt that is clogged in the holding nuts and makes the job easier.

Now, start unscrewing the nuts. All nuts should be loosened by a slight amount. If one remains tight, it could be troublesome afterward. Don’t remove them completely—just loosen them. But, if you aren’t able to loosen even one of the nuts by some measure, you must tighten all of them and take your lawnmower to a professional.

Barring the wheel that is being serviced, fix all the other wheels up so that they don’t move. Use stones or wooden planks to do this job. You should fix up at least two wheels.

The next step is the crucial one—take a hydraulic or a crew jack and put it in the proper place on the chassis. Refer to your manual to see which this place is. Then, using the jack, raise the tire that you have to replace.

Now, remove all the nuts that are holding this tire. Just note that the wheels of the lawn mower tires are bigger than usual car wheels. You might need some help here.

If you have a brake drum, this is the time to clean it completely. Take the opportunity to wash away all the dirt that has accumulated in it.

Now, replace the tire you removed with a new one. Send the one that developed the snag to be repaired.

Find great online tire sales at your ebay and amazon stores today! You will be able to get great deals on lawn mower tires for sure! Also, if you are looking to get 14 inch tires, 4x4 tires, michenlin tires, goodyear tires, etc. ebay is still a great option.
